Between Two Doors: An Inside Look at Mortgage Lending with Nate Carver
Welcome to another episode of Between Two Doors! This time, we’re flipping the script—Krista Russo from Success Mortgage Partners takes over as the host, putting me, Nate Carver, in the guest seat. It was an incredible conversation about my journey into mortgage lending, my passion for helping people achieve homeownership, and some fun insights into my personal interests like beekeeping and gardening.
My Journey into Mortgage Lending
Becoming a mortgage loan officer wasn’t something I had planned. My love for real estate began with flipping houses and making real estate investments. However, I never considered becoming a lender until a fateful Uber ride changed my life. I picked up a passenger who happened to be a mortgage guru and bank owner. After a short conversation, he encouraged me to get my license and work with him, promising that I could have a successful career in mortgage lending.
That moment set me on the path to becoming a mortgage loan officer. Since then, I’ve helped countless families achieve their dream of homeownership. The journey has been both challenging and rewarding, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
A Passion for Gardening and Beekeeping
One of my lesser-known passions is gardening and beekeeping, which connects me to my family’s heritage. My grandparents and great-grandparents always had gardens, and I grew up appreciating fresh, homegrown food. There’s nothing quite like a fresh tomato sandwich or harvesting your own vegetables!
Beekeeping, on the other hand, started as a way for me to stand out. As a Boy Scout, I wanted a unique merit badge, so I chose beekeeping. Years later, I decided to pick it up again, only to discover that my ancestors had been beekeepers before me! It’s amazing how certain passions are passed down through generations.
The Life Lessons in Gardening and Homeownership
Gardening teaches patience, discipline, and the importance of nurturing something over time. The same applies to homeownership. Buying a home isn’t always an overnight process—it requires careful planning, smart decisions, and the right guidance. That’s where having a knowledgeable mortgage lender comes in.
Many homebuyers, especially first-time buyers, come into the process with misconceptions based on outdated information or advice from friends and family. The reality is that mortgage programs change constantly, and there are many loan options available. My role is to educate clients, help them navigate their options, and create a clear mortgage plan that aligns with their financial goals.
Supporting Realtors and Community Growth
Real estate agents play a crucial role in the homebuying process, and my goal is to be a valuable resource for them. Beyond just writing loans, I help my realtor partners grow their businesses through marketing support, lead generation strategies, and consistent communication.
I also believe in giving back to the community. One of my recent personal milestones was achieving a financial goal that allowed me to make a significant donation to a charity close to my heart. This was made possible by staying committed to my business, supporting my realtor partners, and serving my clients with integrity and dedication.

The name Between Two Doors represents the journey of homeownership—moving from one home to the next, whether it’s a first-time purchase or an upgrade. The podcast is a way to share valuable insights, highlight real estate professionals, and connect with the community in a meaningful way.
