The Journey Behind Nate Carver—and Why It Matters for Homebuyers and Realtors

When the mics turned and I became the guest instead of the host, the conversation naturally drifted where it always does in real life: purpose, people, and practical wins.

Yes, I’m the “bee farmer, Veteran, gardener, fisherman” guy—but those chapters all feed one mission today: helping families become homeowners and helping agents grow their businesses.

When the tables turned and I became the guest on another podcast, I had the rare chance to step back, reflect, and share my own story. The truth is, my journey into mortgages hasn’t been a straight line—it’s been a winding road through military service, farming, bees, late-night Uber rides, and even moments of crisis that reshaped my life.  Each chapter connects to what I do today.

Florida Roots, Texas Grit

I grew up in East Milton, Florida, just outside Pensacola. Later, my family moved to Sherman, Texas, so my childhood was a mix of Gulf Coast humidity and North Texas grit. That dual foundation—deep southern hospitality and Texas determination—still defines me today.

After graduating from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, I answered the call to service, spending 15 years in the U.S. Army. First enlisted, then commissioned as an officer, I served tours that tested everything I had. I left with more than medals; I left with a deep sense of responsibility, a sharp eye for details others might miss, and a lifelong commitment to protect and serve.


The Unexpected Turn: From Uber to Mortgages

After leaving the Army, I faced what many Veterans face: transition. I picked up work as an Uber driver in Florida’s tourist corridor between Pensacola and Panama City Beach. Three and a half years later, I had met over 40,000 passengers—investors, travelers, vacationers, everyday families—and each a story to tell.

One passenger changed everything: a bank owner who encouraged me to get my mortgage license. That conversation launched a new career and, ultimately, a calling. Mortgages became my vehicle to continue serving—this time, not on the battlefield, but in living rooms and at closing tables.


Saving Lives Along the Way

During those Uber years, I stumbled into something darker: human trafficking. My military training helped me spot patterns others might overlook. That awareness led me to intervene, rescuing someone in immediate danger and connecting them to a safe house. That moment reshaped me. Today, a portion of every loan I close supports organizations fighting trafficking and restoring lives. To me, a home isn’t just four walls and a roof—it’s safety, dignity, and a chance to start over.


Why Homeownership Matters More Than Ever

Numbers tell the story. According to the Federal Reserve, the median net worth of homeowners is about $400,000, compared to just $10,400 for renters. That’s nearly a 40x difference. And it’s not just home equity—it’s the momentum that ownership creates, fueling savings, investments, and generational wealth.

This is why I love this business. Every first-time buyer isn’t just unlocking a front door—they’re unlocking opportunity.


My Approach: Plans, Not Products

I don’t believe in pushing a product. I believe in crafting a mortgage plan that fits your life. That could mean:

  • Mapping a credit and savings journey that takes 18 months to reach approval.

  • Helping a Veteran maximize VA benefits (like funding fee exemptions).

  • Showing Realtors how tools like MoveTube give their listings national TV exposure, win presentations, and attract serious buyers.

For me, the agent is my client as much as the homebuyer. My job is to make you look good, keep you updated, and create wins that grow your business.


Farming, Beekeeping, and the Art of Patience

Outside of lending, I farm and keep bees. Gardening, in particular, teaches me patience: planting in winter, nurturing growth, and waiting months before harvesting. Mortgages work the same way. Some families are ready in 10 days; others take over a year. Either way, the journey is worth it—and the harvest is always sweeter when you’ve walked it together.


Looking Ahead at Premier Lending

Recently, I joined Premier Lending, Inc.—a move that gives me more room to grow and coach other loan officers. My goal? Build a branch that carries this same philosophy forward: relationship-first, service-driven, and impact-minded.

For Realtors, that means stronger partnerships. For buyers, that means a trusted advocate. For me, it means doing what I was built to do—helping people on their journey home.
